The Leland frosh-soph football team lost a tough 33-22 nod to unbeaten Westmont last Saturday. The Warriors came out of the game with a 7-0 season record while the Chargers slipped to 5-3.

The Chargers scored first to take an 8-0 lead and later regained the lead 16-8 before the Warriors caught them and took the lead for good at 20-16.

Lance Gemett scored two touchdowns for Leland and added a 2-point conversion. Steven Ruel scored the other touchdown and Adam Ondi scored a 2-point conversion. The 22 points scored by the Chargers were the most points given up in a game by Westmont all year.

The Leland defense played Westmont tough all night long. Steve Dudley led the way in slowing down the Warriors' running game as Leland's top tackler. George Mikhail and Ruel hampered Westmont's passing game by grabbing an interception apiece.

Lacrosse clinic

Girls Lacrosse of San Jose will hold an introductory clinic on Nov. 16 at the Kirk Community Center, 1601 Foxworthy Ave. The clinic will run from 1­3 p.m. for middle school girls and 3­4:30 p.m. for high school girls.
