Though National Grandparent's Day is officially celebrated in September on the first Sunday following Labor Day, Guadalupe Elementary School recently celebrated its own special version of Grandparents Day.

Grandmothers and grandfathers were invited to spend the day touring the school's media center, and later they were invited to enjoy playing with their grandchildren during recess on the playground or just watching the children play while sitting at a nearby picnic table or bench.

A 25-minute tour was conducted by student tour guides, who provided information about the school and the media center as they showed their special guests around the books and shelves of the new library and computer alcove.

The annual event was held on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to take advantage of the holiday and a time when families traditionally travel to be together.
