Take Randol off of 'closeable' school list
Our son Isaac goes to Randol Elementary School. The San Jose Unified School District has said it is going to close three to four schools next year, and will make their decision in February. It would be a grave mistake if the school district chooses our Randol as one of them.
The school is a very family- and community-oriented school with major parent involvement. Randol has a special education program that many schools don't have; it blows other schools out of the water with its accelerated reading program. Randol is a very high-achieving school. They say we are an over flow school but we are not. I didn't choose this school because I couldn't get my kid in somewhere else. I did so because so many other former Randol students love this school.
This school is like no other. We rank fifth in the district (out of 33 schools) in achievement; that's got to say something.
