Cobras win again

Andrew Springer pitched in 13 points and blocked eight shots to lead the Castillero boys eighth grade basketball team to a hard-earned 46-41 win over Hoover last week on the losers' floor.

Dan Willis supported with 12 points and a team-high seven assists in the win, but it was a win that didn't come easy for the Cobras.

Early in the game, it looked like it might. Castillero jumped out to an 18-2 lead in the first quarter and was up by as much as 20 in the third period. The Hawks managed to cut the lead to four with 32 seconds left to play, but R.J. Singer popped a free throw to up the cushion to five for the Cobras and that turned out their margin of victory.
