Speak Out
Editor's note: The Almaden Resident held a "Meet the Staff" night at the Almaden Roasting Company on April 7 and we wanted to thank those of our readers took the time to come out and talk to us about our newspaper. We had some nice, frank discussions about our coverage and what they would like to see in our pages. We appreciate the input and will host similar "staff meetings" in the future.

Keep shining a light
on hidden agendas

Because of previous obligations I was not able to attend your Meet the Staff event. But I wanted to say that what I want from you is more of what you have been doing. Without the excellent reporting on the proposed McKean Sports complex, we would have been in the dark about all the shady operations. Please keep shining a light on the things that the powers that be would rather keep hidden.

It was also through your paper that I learned about Pat Dando trying to foist a name-change onto the library. In fact, just about everything of importance going on in the neighborhood I learn from your paper.

I appreciate your paper a lot. Thanks.

'Resident' a valuable
source of information

I was unable to attend your staff meeting the other night, but wanted to let you know that your paper and its content is greatly appreciated. Unlike the other paper in this valley, which confuses self-serving dreck with actual journalism, the Almaden Resident's investigative reporting is a valuable source of information about what is going on in the neighborhoods for its readers.

As long as you keep publishing, we will keep reading.

Investigative reporting
appreciated by reader

Sorry I was unable to join you for coffee last Thursday. I hope you will have another one sometime within the next year. Your investigating reporting on city government suggests the fourth estate is alive and well.

By the way, I agree with your editorial regarding the new city audit hotline ("Fraud, audit hotline will only generate tepid action," April 7). I guess there is no easy solution, but perhaps we need a hotline that reports to the city auditor to report alleged wrongdoings by council members and another hotline that reports to the city council for alleged wrongdoings by city personnel.
