Speak and be heard. It's time for the Rotary Club of Almaden Valley Speech Contest.
The contest will take place at noon on Feb. 8 at Three Flames restaurant, 1547 Meridian Ave. The event is open to the public.
Students in grades 9-12 from Oak Grove, Pioneer and Leland high schools are invited to compete. This year's theme is "Rotary Shares: Investing in the Future."
Students have an opportunity to develop their public speaking skills, increase their knowledge of Rotary and earn monetary awards by advancing in the area, regional and districtwide contests.
"We look forward to this day each year," said Ed Lacina in a written statement. "Our history of success is phenomenal.
Lucina noted that students competing at the Almaden Valley Rotary Club event have reached the district level in the competition several times.
