Pigskin piece missed an important point

In response to the previously written article about local football ("Pigskin Promoter," Jan. 17), I feel that there has been an injustce done here. I commend Michael Smith for his eagerness to bring football to Campbell by August 2001, but the problem with that, which was not mentioned, is that the city already has a football program that has been in place for over 10 years.

The program I am talking about is, The Campbell Wolverines, which is affiliated with PAL football. Michael Smith made it seem as if there has never been any kind of football in the city. Pop Warner football, which is known nationwide, is a great program, but so is PAL football.

A lot of the things that Smith says Pop Warner offers, so does PAL. PAL also pays for those children who are unable to afford the cost of playing, to insure that each and every child that comes to PAL will never be turned away from playing any of our sports.

All I ask is that if you are going to write about something, make sure you know all of the facts!

    PAL football commissioner
