Campbell businesses expanding, staying local

More good news for Campbell--not only are local businesspeople who choose to expand staying in town, others from surrounding cities are relocating here to grow. Coincidentally, two recent expansions moved into their new quarters on the same day--March 25.
La Bamba and Hair Salon owners Michelle and Carlos Rodriguez celebrated their expansion to a larger space with an official grand opening on April 5. Formerly located at 14 Central Ave., the new salon boasts three times the space of the original facility. Located at 52 E. Campbell Ave., the Rodriguezes now have more room for clients and specialized products as they continue catering to the growing hair color and color correction market. Around the corner, commuters may have noticed construction signs and changes at 2082 S. Winchester Blvd. While the new sign features two names, it actually houses just one company, owned by Vlad Radu. Budget Flooring is the name of the original business Radu established in San Jose, and FloorsByBudget.com is the company's website address.
"Vlad first started the company by exclusively subcontracting through Home Depot and Macy's over eight years, and when Macy's bowed out of the business, Costco came in and we began subcontracting for them also," says estimator Chris Clouser. "After seven years at the 407 Perrymont Ave. location, we expanded into roughly twice the space here in Campbell."
Even though it's a relatively small company with about five in-house employees, it also boasts five to six crews for installations. Budget Flooring handles all types of flooring and installations, except for ceramic tile. The company offers hardwood choices by Bruce, Robbins and others, along with laminate selections by Armstrong, Moderna and Wilsonart.
Most of the company's business is comprised of commercial contracts with apartment buildings, new construction work and continued subcontracts with Home Depot and Costco. One of most recently completed contracts was for the Muir Orthopedic Center in Walnut Creek--a carpet and sheet vinyl job throughout Muir's five four-story buildings.
