    Volleyball league

    Registration is now under way for an eight-week instructional volleyball league season that will run May 22 through July 31 at Los Gatos High School.

    The league, part of the United States Youth Volleyball League, is open to boys and girls ages 8-14, and the registration fee of $80 includes instruction, practices, games, a uniform top and membership in the USYVL and USA Volleyball.

    Junior tennis

    Registration is under way for Junior League Team Tennis in Saratoga. USTA-Team Saratoga will field teams in the 10-and-under, 12-and-under, 15-and-under and 18-and-under age groups.

    The program features weekly competition versus other area teams, and the season runs June 14-July 30. Practices and matches will be played at Saratoga High School.

    Footbag festival

    The 14th annual Western Regional Footbag Championships for Cystic Fibrosis will be held May 29-31 at Stanford University. More than 150 competitors are expected, and new players are welcome. For more information, call 1-650-366-5554 or check the Web site at www.footbag.org/events.


    Basketball camp

    Basketball Basics, a fundamentals basketball camp for boys and girls in grades 5-8, will be held at Westmont High School this summer under the direction of girls basketball coach Jerry Pettit.

    Camps are scheduled for June 28-July 9 for boys and July 12-23 for girls. Camp hours are 8 a.m.-noon for players in grades 5-6, and 1-5 p.m. for players in grades 7-8. The cost is $165.

    Football signups

    It's time to start thinking about the fall Pop Warner Football season, and youngsters ages 8-15 living in Los Gatos, Saratoga and Campbell can sign up as either football players or cheerleaders.

    Players must have been born between Aug. 1, 1983, and July 31, 1991, and 15-year-old players must be under 125 pounds.

    Coaches for football and cheerleading are also needed.
