A team of seasoned technology gurus launched iWatt at 240 E. Hacienda Ave. on Earth Day last month. The startup, made up of tech vets from Quantum, Motorola and Fujitsu, manufactures energy-saving power supply chips. iWatt claims that its patented energyBonus power supply chip operates at 85 percent efficiency (the standard is 70 percent), which in effect could reduce U.S. demand for electricity. For details about the company, contact Steve High at 408.341.0488.

Campbell Music Center is moving from 68 E. Campbell Ave. to the corner of First Street and Campbell Avenue. The move has been slated since last October, but some minor glitches have prevented the store from opening the doors at its new home. The music store is a local favorite for instruments and sheet music, as well as music lessons. For information, call 378.5204.

For musicians awaiting the opening of Campbell Music's new location, Music Village at 2985 Union Ave. is a good place to fulfill your needs while you wait. The shop is staffed by musicians and offers private rooms for music lessons. Call for details 377.2504.

Spring in the air seems to bring more birds in the trees. For feeders, food and books about the flying critters, check out The Backyard Bird Feeder at 1466 Pollard Road. The shop's nature-loving owner will help identify the best feeders for your backyard's habitat and ways to attract beneficial insects and butterflies. Every so often the shop hosts a butterfly release day, where hundreds of the delicate flying beings are let loose into the skies. Call 378.0886 for store hours.

Every once in awhile, we all need a day of pampering at the spa. Even our loyal pets benefit from a little red carpet treatment. The Pet Spa at 1516 Pollard Road is the place where your Spot and Muffy can take a break from reality. Calling itself "a special place for special friends," the Pet Spa offers grooming for dogs, cats, birds, and even rabbits, and provides daycare, photography, pickup and delivery, boarding and dog training classes. To arrange a getaway for your favorite pet, call 379.8911.
