    Talk of the Town

    By Sarah Gaffney

    Q. Fanatic movie fans have been camping out for weeks for the opening of Star Wars. What event or person would you camp out to see? Follow-up: What's your favorite movie of all time?

    (asked at Woolworth Nursery)

Never. All the big people I've ever wanted to see I've seen on stage in places like Tahoe and New York. No, I'd never camp out. Best picture? Gone with the Wind. That's ancient, isn't it? I think I saw it three or four times, which is a big deal for me. I suspect I first saw it when it first came out in 1939. It's still my favorite.

The Pope. I believe in religion. I feel it's an important part of everybody's life. It's always with you regardless of whether you think of it or not. Favorite flick? Clark Gable in Gone With the Wind. I'm an old guy. I probably paid 25 cents to see it when it first came out.

Probably no one. Nope, I don't think anyone or anything is that important for me to camp out for days. Movie memories? I'm not a real big movie buff. I've never got that excited about any actor or actress. I think a lot of the young people today idolize certain people in the movies, thinking they're superhuman--and they aren't. I look at them as just people just like us.

I've never really been a hard-core fanatic for anything. I am a Star Trek fan, though. I'd probably camp out to see the next Star Trek movie. Fantastic film? It would probably be a Star Trek movie. I like First Contact better than the last one. That's where they meet the Borg queen. She's from a cybernetic race and she wants to take over the world. That was a pretty good movie.
