Movies and good eats in abundance by summertime

    By Michelle C. Crowe

This year, look to local Campbell businesses for an abundance of cool new taste and entertainment experiences, just in time for summer fun and festivities.

For anyone who's desperately missed Togo's after the Campbell Avenue location closed earlier this year, good news is ahead. Look for the piled-high sandwiches to again be a Campbell staple once the new shop opens at The Pruneyard in early June.

For those who can't decide between Chinese take-out and sandwiches, the owners of Kim Ly Chinese Restaurant on Winchester Boulevard make the choice easy. The Chinese restaurant now offers a variety of traditional sandwiches to go, as well as the usual lunch plates. Chopsticks are optional.

In case you missed it, The Pruneyard Florist opened to booming business this past Mother's Day weekend. They're looking for lots of business with the upcoming graduation ceremonies and June weddings.

Equity Office Properties, the management company for both The Pruneyard Shopping Center and The Pruneyard Towers, reports three new tenants in the Towers: NorthBound, Diversified Capital and Redwood CTO. EOP also announced that the Camera 7 Cinemas is set to open in July.

Local flick fans should also note that The Campbell Plaza Theatres are now CineLux Theatres. New, comfortable seats are set for installation later this year--moviegoers can test-drive a sample in the lobby. The chain (which includes Almaden 5 in Willow Glen and Cinema Saver 10 in Milpitas) plans to keep its traditional Tuesday bargain days. For more information, call 408.378.2425 or check out the new website at www.CineLuxTheatres.com.

Drinx, the popular drive-through coffee spot at 2415 Winchester Blvd. in the Campbell Plaza, now offers a new taste sensation known as frusia drinks. Owner Keon Vossoughi brings three fruit-flavored smoothie-style concoctions to both the Cupertino and Campbell locations. The strawberry, mango or peach frusia drinks are created from a blend of fruit, tea and ice, and offer a cool alternative to the usual iced-coffee summertime favorites.

In other news, Scott Cao Violins has nearly completed renovations and improvements at its location at 1860 S. Winchester Blvd.
