Shawn Flanagan spent his early filmmaking days in Almaden Valley. At 16, he was shooting "shorts" on Super 8 film with his buddies in the Almaden hills. Twenty years and many acting, producing and managing stints later, Flanagan is happy to announce that his first feature film, Boneshakers--which was partly filmed in Campbell and Willow Glen--is grinding its way toward mass distribution. Bradley Video, located on Campbell Avenue, has agreed to carry eight copies of Boneshakers--which Flanagan also wrote, produced and directed--in all eight of its California stores. The film was born from an idea "pulled out of the air," says Flanagan. During his frequent San Francisco visits, Flanagan noticed some of the city's recurring visual motifs: homeless, taxicabs and bike messengers. Moved especially by the plight of the homeless, Flanagan decided to tie all the elements into Boneshakers.
