According to exit surveys of 1,232 seniors at Prospect, Westmont, Del Mar, Leigh, and Blackford high schools, 1,210 are eligible for graduation, and 90 percent of them are headed for college. Most college-bound seniors are trying to remain in the state after graduation. Ten percent of graduates are enrolled in the California State University system, and almost that same number will be going into the University of California system. Another 6 percent of CUHSD grads will be going on to private or out-of-state, four-year institutions, and a few grads will be attending colleges overseas. Four percent of the graduating seniors are undecided about their college careers, or have opted to work full-time. Two percent will be enlisting in the Marines and Army or headed to the U.S. Naval and Air Force academies. Many students graduating from the district this year will be attending area community colleges.
