Speed Bump--June 28, 12:01 a.m. A neighbor on Calado Avenue called Campbell police to report a 50-year-old San Jose man "standing in the street screaming and yelling." According to the police report, the suspect knew the residents, but they were not home at the time. The suspect was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine and booked into jail.
Doggone--June 26, 11 p.m. Residents on Bismarck took a barking dog into their possession because the dog's owner was in custody. The neighbors gave the responding police officer permission to take the dog away, but animal control couldn't take the dog "just for being noisy." The neighbors relented, and agreed to take care of the dog.
Foxes In the Chicken Coop?--June 26, 10:45 a.m. A family staying at the Motel Six at 1240 Camden Ave.found their wallet, which contained $800, missing. Searches were conducted and everyone denied involvement, according to the police report, which pointed out that three out of the four maids were on parole or probation.
Stopped for Speeding--June 24, 6:51 a.m. A 39-year-old Santa Clara man was reported looking under vehicles at The Pruneyard. The suspect fled on bike through the parking lot after eluding police. With the help of a private citizen, a Campbell police officer caught and arrested the suspect, who was found to be in possession of, and under the influence of, methamphetamine.
Manhandling--June 28, 11:36 p.m. A 30-year-old San Jose man was booked into jail after "manhandling" his female companion at the rear of Walgreen's on 1660 S. Winchester Blvd. The suspect fled in his car, while the victim fled on foot. A witness wrote down the suspect's license plate and the police located both at an address on West Latimer Avenue.
