'Tis the season to be toyful

It's the most festive time of the year, so why not get into the spirit early? The Campbell Chamber of Commerce's annual Campbell Community Toy Program kicks off this year with the help of the country fire district. The two will host a fundraising event from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Gaslighter Theater. Proceeds will go to buy toys for underprivileged kids in the Campbell community.

Guests are treated to drinks and snacks and a visit from Santa. The chamber is also selling opportunity drawing tickets for prizes that include stays at Campbell hotels and gift certificates to local restaurants. Admission is $10 in advance through the Chamber or at the door. For more information, contact the Chamber at 378-6252.

If you have a child in need and can't afford toys this year, the Toy Hotline, at 993-7200, can help.

    Do You Solstice?

December marks not only the arrival of sleigh bells and extended mall hours, but also the winter solstice--the shortest day of the year and a traditional celebration of light.
