Truckers, Robins tied for first place

RSVP tops Campbell minor division pack

Making the Play: Moose Lodge pitcher Gavin Copely attempts to make the play in Campbell Little League major division action last Thursday.

The regular season title race is coming to the final days in the Campbell Little League major division ... and what a race it is.

Murdick Trucking and Robins were heading down the homestretch last weekend, and the two clubs were locked in a tie for first place with matching 18-8 records.

Well off the pace in third place in the circuit was Moose Lodge, 5 1/2 games off the pace at 13-14. EPS is just a game behind Moose at 12-13, with Campbell Plaza a few games back at 12-13.

RBI went into the final weekend of the regular season with a 9-16 record, and TGFS sat at 9-17.

The Moose Lodgers nailed a key win over TGFS last week as they attempt to position themselves for the league playoffs. Gavin Copely pitched for Moose in the win. Brian Buttruce and Cory Jacobsen are other key players for the Lodge.

Zain Garibay and "Bear" Hoang have helped keep EPS in the playoff picture, and Garrett Meo has played a key role for TGFS. Starring for RBI have been Andrew Formale, Chad Moss, Mike Moss, Chris Newman and Jason Brady.

In minor division play, RSVP was resting atop the circuit with an 18-7 record heading into the final weekend of play. Valley Athletic was 1 1/2 games back in second at 16-8.

Kiwanis rested in third place at 14-12, followed by RSJ Machining at 11-14, Woodworks at 8-16 and Butchies at 7-17.

RSJ won a couple of early season games thanks to the offensive heroics of Jimmy Manning, Jon Salhany, Max Gilson, Cody Rogers and Chris Tognetti. Conor Carroll came through with a solid pitching effort, and Mike Olson was solid defensively.
