YMCA camps

The Southwest YMCA will offer three youth sports camps for elementary school children June 17-21.

The YMCA will host a basketball camp and a soccer camp for children in grades 4-6. Both camps will stress improvement of skills through drills and scrimmages, and will focus on teamwork.

There will also be a gymnastics camp for kids in grades 1-3, held in conjunction with the Almaden Valley Gymnastics Club. Campers will be introduced to the fundamentals of the sport.

Field hockey camp

Del Mar will host a beginning field hockey camp for girls in the sixth through ninth grades June 25-27, 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $40 per player and includes a camp T-shirt. Equipment will be provided. For more information, contact Stacey Sampson at 408-264-2373 or DelMarFH@aol.com.


All-sports camp

Santa Clara University will host its Summer All-Sports Camp for children with a "sincere interest in sports and outdoor recreation." Camps will begin July 14 and Aug. 11 for resident campers and July 15 and Aug. 12 for day campers.

Sports offered will include baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis and more. For more information, contact Antonio Veloso at aveloso@scu.edu.


Baseball camp

San Jose State University baseball coach Sam Piraro will head up the annual SJSU summer baseball camps for players ages 6-17 again this summer.

Sessions include comprehensive camps July 8-12 and July 22-26, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, for players ages 6-16. The cost is $110 per player, and camps are limited to the first 75 players to register.

Specialty camps are slated for July 29-Aug. 2 (pitching camp for ages 12-17, 10 a.m.-noon, and hitting camp for ages 9-17, 1-3 p.m.). The cost is $125 per player (both sessions $200), and camps are limited to the first 25 campers to register.

All campers receive a free T-shirt, and there will be camper evaluations and special awards. Call 408-924-1262 or 408-924-1287.


Hockey Jamboree

Applications are now being accepted for teams interested in playing in the 23rd annual Willow Glen Field Hockey Jamboree Sept. 6-7. Each participating team is guaranteed a minimum of five games.
