Local institutions are
good choice, affordable
Sending the kids to community colleges and San Jose State University while they live at home gives them a good education at a very low price ("The cost of education has become prohibitive," March 16).
The problem seems to be the parents, who want their "obviously above average" offspring to attend elite or more elite schools. For what purpose? Save some dough; use the local institutions of higher education.

Campbell sign should
also have a thank-you
In a recent edition of the Campbell Reporter (March 9), mention was made of the "Welcome to Campbell" greeting on the Kohl's sign at Hamilton Avenue and Highway 17.
Am I the only one who believes that the article "the" is missing from the text of the sign? It reads "Welcome to City of Campbell." Shouldn't it read "Welcome to the City of Campbell?"
I also have to wonder what the purpose of the "Welcome to City of Campbell" greeting on the southern side of this sign is. It seems that by the time a driver has seen this side of the sign, he or she has already driven through most of Campbell and is well on their way to San Jose.
"Thank you for visiting City of Campbell" would seem more appropriate.
