    Obituary

    William G. Rose, 75, dies

    William G. Rose, a longtime Bay Area resident, died Aug. 14 at his daughter's home in Cupertino. He was 75. Rose was born in Fresno in 1925 and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Stanford University, where he played on the varsity basketball team.

    Rose had a successful career in management and was associated with the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company for more than 30 years. His quick wit and interest in sports and politics will be missed by friends and family.

    Rose is survived by his wife Virginia B. Rose; sisters, Phyllis Rose and Lila Arnold; daughter, Ellen Rose; son, William G. Rose Jr.; and grandchildren Karen and Brian Jardine.

    Memorial donations may be sent to the MidPeninsula Pathways Hospice Foundation, 201 San Antonio Circle, Suite 104, Mountain View, 94040.
