    CUSD program creates a friendly safety net for incoming middle school students


    Before she came to Kennedy Middle School last year, eighth-grader Victoria Tseng was a little bit scared. 'I heard lots of rumors about Kennedy [while in elementary school],' Tseng says. 'I heard all the eighth-graders were really mean and they all did drugs.' For a new sixth or seventh grader, life at a middle school can be a frightening prospect. But the Cupertino Union School District is taking steps to quell these fears. This year, all four middle schools are implementing WEB--Welcome Every Body--an orientation program that helps students transition and acclimate themselves from elementary school to the middle school environment.   More
