CCS to hold its 17th annual fundraiser and auction Sept. 8

Residents can slip into their chaps, pull on their cowboy boots and don their hats--the CCS 17th Annual Auction and Barbecue fundraiser is back in town, Sept. 8 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Blackberry Farms Recreational Park, at 21975 San Fernando Ave. in Cupertino.

The Westerley's country band will perform while the Santa Clara County Fire Department will cure any hunger pangs with a choice of chateaubriand, chicken, hot dogs, chili, salad and a selection of appetizers.

Cupertino Community Services and the Silicon Valey United Way are hosting the event. CCS has found homes for about 400 people and feeds almost 6,000 per year.

The main event will feature a live auction by a professional auctioneer, as well as a silent "grab-bag" auction. There are more than 200 items to be auctioned, including a pedigree Persian kitten; a hot air balloon ride for two; rounds of golf at local country clubs; overnight stays at a variety of locales; and dinner for 50 at Pichetti Winery--yes, the fire department will host a party for the winner and 50 of his or her closest friends.

There will be a carnival for the kids with family events, games and bounce houses. There will also be a chance to win a new car in the annual CCS raffle. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children age 12 and under. Tickets are available at the CCS office, the Chamber of Commerce or by calling 408.255.8033. For more details and information, contact Jill at 408.255.8033.
