Yu at West Point

Monta Vista tennis star Gene Yu is now a freshman battling for a spot in the top six on the men's tennis team at the United States Military Academy, West Point. Yu, a nationally ranked player, is a candidate to break the top six for the Cadets as just a freshman.

Punt, Pass and Kick

The annual NFL Punt, Pass and Kick contest will be held Sept. 28, 3 p.m., at Camden Park. The free contest is open to boys and girls ages 8-15 (as of Dec. 31, 1997). For more information, call 277-5556.

Carousel to Coaster

The annual Carousel to Coaster Run returns to Great America Sept. 28, 8:30 a.m. The 10K run and 5K walk begin at 8:30 a.m., and the course cuts right through the middle of the amusement park in Santa Clara.

The registration fee is $17 by Sept. 15 and includes a race T-shirt. Race-day registration is $20, and shirts will be available while supplies last.

Roller hockey tourney

A roller hockey tournament is slated for Sept. 20-21 at the Roosevelt Rink in San Jose for players in the pee-wee (14 and under) and bantam (17 and under) divisions. There will be six teams in each division, and the cost is $150 per team. The registration deadline is Sept. 15. For more information, call 277-5556 or 286-0195.

Fencing classes

The San Jose Fencing Center, 110 Stockton Ave., provides instruction in foil and sabre weapons for children and adults. All equipment is provided. For more information, call 298-8230.
