New redistricting maps unveiled
Newly proposed assembly redistricting maps were unveiled Aug. 29 showing Cupertino moving from Rebecca Cohn's 24th Assembly District to Elaine Alquist's 22nd Assembly District.
Every 10 years, a redistricting process based on the state's population adjusts the Assembly, Senate, Congressional and Board of Equalization districts. Population information was taken from the 2000 census, and new districts are drawn at the beginning of each decade so they remain as equal as possible in population.
