Vote yes on Measure C

By Mike de Give

In 1990, Cupertino voters said yes to voluntary term limits for its City Councilmembers. The law was a strong suggestion from voters that councilmembers should limit their tenure on the dais to two four-year terms.

While every councilmember since then has complied with the voters' wishes, no law requires them to do so. Measure C will make the two-term limit official.

Measure C is a good idea. Term limits on the city level encourages new people to run for office, and brings fresh ideas into the spotlight. Moreover, it prevents too much power from accumulating in the hands of a single councilmember.

Get out to vote on Nov. 4, and put a check in the "yes" box next to Measure C.
