The Cupertino CourierNews BriefsCities mark 10 years as sisters Plans are under way on both sides of the Pacific for the 20th anniversary celebration of Cupertino and Toyokawa becoming sister cities. Cupertino city officials met last week with Toyokawa representatives in Japan to begin the planning. A delegation from Cupertino will visit Toyokawa Aug. 20-24, 1998. The city will accept applications from those interested in attending. Anyone interested in helping plan the celebration can call public information officer Donny Krey at 777-3262. Symphonic Band honors vets The Cupertino Symphonic Band will hold its third annual Veterans Day concert Nov. 9 at the Cupertino High School auditorium, beginning at 3 p.m. The Valley Chorale will combine with the band under the direction of Robert Gomez to present a program featuring a narrated musical tribute to past and current members of the armed forces. Admission is free. Canned food donations for Cupertino Community Services are welcome. Call 262-0471. Show STOMPs into Flint Center STOMP, an international percussion ensemble, is returning for a brief Bay Area appearance at Flint Center through Nov. 9. The eight-member percussion group has toured more than 50 cities and enjoyed overwhelming success throughout the world. Tickets range from $20 to $35 and are available at Flint Center Box Office or can be charged by phone at 998-BASS.
