The Cupertino CourierVoters embrace term limitsCupertino residents overwhelmingly said "yes" to mandatory term limits for City Council members, voting 3,535 to 1,282 in favor of Measure C in Tuesday's election. The win for Measure C comes seven years after a majority of Cupertino voters approved voluntary term limits in an advisory vote. Every councilmember since then has abided by the limits. Measure C's victory means the new City Council must pass an ordinance within 60 days officially enacting the term limits. Once the ordinance is enacted, a councilmember will be allowed to serve one unexpired term, followed by two full terms. At the end of the terms, the councilmember will not be allowed back onto the council for a period of four years.
