    De Anza women win

The De Anza Community College women's soccer team improved to 10-0 in Coast Conference play with a tight 2-1 win over Ohlone last week.

The Dons, 17-2 for the year, had beaten Foothill 6-0 earlier in the week to clinch the Coast Conference North Division championship.

The De Anza men, meanwhile, dropped a tough 2-1 nod to Cabrillo to slip to 7-2 in the conference and to 12-5-2 for the year. But the Dons had clinched the division title earlier in the week with a 6-0 win over Chabot.

In community college women's volleyball play, De Anza rolled to a 30-24, 31-29, 26-30, 30-25 win over Foothill. The Dons are 10-1 in the Coast Conference and 11-5 for the year.

    Hall of Fame

Five outstanding area athletes and coaches will join the impressive roster of names when the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame inducts new members in ceremonies Nov. 7 at the Compaq Center at San Jose.

Baseball sensation Dave Righetti, motor sports legend Joe Leonard, coaching greats Carroll Williams and John Ralston and the late Ernie Nevers will join the local hall this week.

The five inductees will share the spotlight Wednesday with five other special award winners: High School Athletes of the Year-- Antwon Guidry of Leigh and Undine Becker of Mount Pleasant; Amateur Athletes of the Year-- Andre Carter of Cal and Danielle Slaton of Santa Clara University; and Special Olympian of the Year-- Kelly Anderson of Los Gatos. The Bay Area CyberRays and the San Jose Earthquakes will also receive "exceptional achievement" awards for their championship seasons.
