CEEF sets ambitious goal for fundraising

In its most ambitious fund-raising effort to date, the board of directors of the Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation announced a campaign last week with a goal of $6 million for the restoration of music and technology across the curriculum at all 20 elementary schools in the Cupertino Union School District.

In addition to music, the curriculum will integrate a variety of art styles--media, video and graphic arts--with social studies and science instruction. The technology component involving "information literacy" will address two past problems--staffing and teacher training.

The campaign has already raised $3.4 million--$2 million from CEEF's endowment fund and $1.4 pledged by individuals, corporations and foundations. The community phase of fundraising will seek support from district parents, alumni and friends throughout the district. For more information, contact Eleanor Watanabe, executive director of CEEF, at 408.446.2333.
