Customers unable to get clothes at the cleaners
By Robert S. Hong
Jim Cohn is running out of clothes.

About three weeks ago, he took a pile of them to Huntingdon Cleaners on De Anza Boulevard, a common procedure for him, only when he went back to pick them up, he came home empty-handed.

"When I went to pick them up, there was an out-of-business sign posted, but you could see racks full of clothes inside," he said.

There was a note on the door giving customers the owner's number to call to retrieve their clothing.

"When you call the number, all you get is her answering machine and a message that the mailbox is full and not accepting messages," he said.

After attempting to reach the owner several different times, Cohn decided to call around 8 p.m. one night, and to his surprise the owner, Anna Lee, actually picked up the phone.

"She said she had been having heart problems and her doctor advised her to close the store," Cohn said. "She said her lawyer would open the store in a few days, but that was weeks ago."

When Cohn later returned to the store, he noticed a lot of angry notes posted on the window, as well as a new sign that stated that the property is managed by Biagini Properties.

Cohn called the number and learned that Bagini Properties is working out plans to distribute the clothes.

Cohn said he was told that Biagini was going to open up the doors on a given day and let the people find their clothes, but Biagini later cancelled that plan and is currently looking to transfer the clothing to another cleaners, where everyone will be allowed to pick up their items.

"Either plan will result in massive confusion and many lost clothing items," Cohn said.

In the meantime, the former owner still has a full voice mailbox, and her former store is still full of clothes that are visible through the window but just out of reach.

By press time the Courier had not received a response to its request for comments from Biagini Properties.
