The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Found Property—July 4, 7:55 p.m., Meiggs Lane. An individual found one Ziplock bag with a green leafy substance wrapped in a cigarette. The substance resembled and smelled like marijuana. An officer was called to destroy the substance.
Burglary (vehicle)—July 4, 6:20 p.m., Wolfe Road at Vallco Mall. An unknown person (s) entered a Honda Civic by opening the window. The person stole a Dickies' brand jacket, along with a bottle of hair gel, cologne, a set of keys and a wallet. The lost items were valued at $93.
Burglary (vehicle)—July 4, 5:35 p.m., Wolfe Road at Vallco Mall. An unknown person (s) opened the window of a blue Honda Accord and stole a stereo system, a pair of Timberland shoes and a brand-name shirt. The lost items were valued at $500.
Burglary (vehicle)—July 4, 5:30 p.m., Wolfe Road at Vallco mall. The front right passenger window of a vehicle was shattered. Items stolen from the car were valued at up to more than $700. Officers took fingerprints from the vehicle.
Petty Theft—July 4, 4:25 p.m., Wolfe Road at Vallco mall. An individual was caught on surveillance stealing a pink shirt from a store. The price of the shirt was $12. The individual was booked into juvenile hall.
Attempted Strongarm Robbery—July 4, 8:25 a.m., Stelling Road at Valley Green Drive. An unknown person approached the victim from behind and attempted to steal the victim's purse. The victim was pushed forcefully to the ground. The thief is still at large.
