The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Lost Passport—Aug. 1, 5:15 p.m., Homestead Road at Forge Way. A man left his U.S. passport in a copier at a retail store. He spoke with employees at the store, and no one had found it. The man has applied for a new passport.
Arson (Property)—Aug. 1, 11:05 a.m., Forge Way. The manager of an apartment complex found burned tissue and a burned chair in the spa area. The Cupertino Fire Department also responded to the call, and damage was approximately $200. This is the fourth arson incident at the complex since July 15. There were no witnesses or leads.
Assault/Battery, Petty Theft—July 31, 1:05 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. An individual tried to steal from a retail store and was stopped by an employee. The employee was assaulted by the individual and a partner. The two fled and were later located and identified by the employee. They were arrested and transported to county jail.
Petty Theft—July 30, 6:40 p.m., N. Wolfe Road at Vallco Parkway. A man took several items of clothing into a fitting room, where he dressed in the clothing and then placed his own clothing on top. He then left the store without paying for the merchandise. A store security officer detained the man, who was cited. The value of the merchandise was $80.48.
Auto Burglary—July 29, 6:00 p.m., Pruneridge Avenue at Wolfe Road. Unknown vandals pried open the driver's side window of a locked vehicle and then took the rearview mirror and one garage-door opener. There are no suspects.
