Dorothy Mantor resided in Cupertino 50 years
Dorothy Mantor, who died Jan. 19 at the age of 85, moved to Cupertino in 1956 and became active in the Sunnyvale Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was a member of the Philotesian Rebekah Lodge and a member and volunteer for the Cupertino Historical Society.
She was born April 14, 1920, in Downey. She lived in Puyallup, Wash., and moved to Napa, where she met her husband, Walt. They married in Reno in 1936. He was 22 and in the National Guard, and she was 16. Her husband died in 1962 of a heart attack at the age of 48.
Mantor worked with a pharmaceutical company for 17 years before she retired on disability. She and her longtime boyfriend, Paul Quinterno, were loving companions for 24 years until she died in her home of complications due to Alzheimer's disease.
Her son, Walt Kodiak Mantor of Alaska, died previously. She is survived by daughters Joanne Mantor of Cupertino and Wanda Hammond of Saratoga; grandchildren Walt Jr., Bill, Donna, Kathy, John, Tony, Darcy, Mike, Tiffani, Emma and Ben; 23 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mantor were held on Jan. 24 at the Lima Family Sunnyvale Mortuary.
