Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's westside substation.

Petty Theft--Sept. 10, 10:27 a.m., Sterling Drive. A person walked out of his home and found applesauce and clam chowder on shoes in front of his door. He also found a green slimy substance on his garage door and two bamboo plants valued at $40 taken from his yard. The person(s) responsible are at large.

Possession of Methamphetamine--Sept. 10, 1:18 p.m., Olive Avenue. A sheriff's officer stopped a motorcycle for a stop sign violation. While stopped, a plastic bag containing methamphetamine fell out of the motorcycle rider's pocket. The man also had a methamphetamine pipe. The officer booked the man into the main jail.

Evading a Peace Officer--Sept. 9, 1:05 a.m., Calvert Drive. A sheriff's officer tried to stop a driver for running a red light. The driver sped away at a high rate of speed, later crashing into a chain link fence. After the car came to a stop, the driver and a male passenger fled on foot. A female passenger was detained and she handed over methamphetamine and a pipe. She was booked into the main jail on charges of possession.

Burglary (Auto)--Sept. 8, 10:25 a.m., Pruneridge Avenue. An unknown person(s) broke into a locked vehicle by breaking a passenger window. The person(s) then took a $200 MP3 player.

Possession of Hypodermic Needles--Sept. 6, 1:02 a.m., Stelling Road. A sheriff's officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The officer determined the occupants were under the influence of a stimulant. The officer also located a used needle in the vehicle.

Both persons were booked into the main jail.

Petty Theft Mail--Sept. 5, 9:15 p.m., Olive Avenue. A family reported a possible theft of mail. A woman checked her mailbox and found it and a neighbor's open and the mail missing. The woman had been expecting mail including DVDs.

Vehicle Burglary--Sept. 5, 9:45 a.m., Beekman Place. A person found his car glove box opened. A green bag had also been taken from the car and items from the bag and glove box were left on the floor. The person(s) responsible are unknown and at large.
