A real role model for community

After reading Michael Cronk's tribute to Don Allen, I wanted to share my thoughts about this wonderful guy.

The reason so many of us love Don Allen is that he lives the ideals that many of us believe in and strive to express in our lives. Don is generous, compassionate, humble, forgiving and has a great sense of humor. He is sincerely interested in people and in helping out in whatever way he can. No job is too big or too small for Don. He's as likely to stack chairs and put them away as he is to raise millions of dollars for a worthy project.

He is our role model. I'm not saying that Don is a saint. He is just a man, but one man who shows us, by his example, what is possible if we only put our hearts and minds into it. Don Allen is the expression of love in action. He lights the way for the rest of us.

And Michael Cronk is right when he says, "It seems people can't say 'thank you' enough." My hope is that Don knows how much he is loved and respected.
