City needs
residents to
serve on boards
The city of Cupertino is encouraging residents to apply for positions on city committees and commissions.
There are two scheduled vacancies on the audit committee, two on the community development block grant steering committee, two on the housing commission, two on the parks and recreation commission, three on the public safety commission three on the senior commission, and two on the technology, information and communication commission.
There is also an unscheduled vacancy on the planning commission left by Gilbert Wong, who has been elected to the city council.
The application deadline is 5:30 p.m. Jan. 9. The city council will conduct interviews Jan. 22 and 23.

Peet's employees
donate tips to
local charity
Peet's Coffee and Tea, located at 20807 Stevens Creek Blvd., gave the tips its employees collected on Christmas Eve to Cupertino Community Services.
It is a policy of Peet's to have every franchise donate Christmas Eve tips to charity. The Peet's store on Stevens Creek Boulevard has picked a different nonprofit organization in Cupertino every holiday season since it opened three years ago.
Peet's corporate office matched the $192.56 in tips collected by the employees.
College district
seeks applicants
for committee
The Foothill-De Anza Community College District Board of Trustees is seeking applicants for four seats on its audit and finance committee.
Applicants need a strong background in budget, finance and/or audits. Initial terms of service will be two or four years. The positions are not compensated.
