Los Gatos receives new phone prefix

GTE recently added another three-digit prefix to its Los Gatos service area. New businesses and residences in areas covered by GTE may receive telephone numbers with a 402 prefix. The area code will remain 408.

Company spokespeople said GTE created the new prefix because previous prefix numbers were exhausted.

Registration deadline to vote is coming

Los Gatans who want to vote in the March 7 primary elections must register to do so by Feb. 7.

Aside from the presidential and congressional elections in 2000, some residents of unincorporated county pockets in the Los Gatos area also will have the chance to vote on whether they want to be annexed by the town.

Anyone who has moved, even within the same city or county, is required to re-register. For more information, contact the county clerk or call 1.800.345.VOTE.
