Los Gatos Weekly-TimesNews BriefsIt's census time --no fooling The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors is convening a Complete Count Committee to develop activities and programs that will contribute to a more accurate count of county residents on April 1, 2000. The committee will incorporate local knowledge, expertise and resources in the effort to promote and recruit for the 2000 census. The county committee will coordinate its efforts with other cities in the county. Supervisors will appoint 15 residents to a Complete Count Steering Committee to help promote the 2000 census locally. Supervisors are expected to make appointments in February, and committee meetings will begin shortly after that. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Applications can be picked up in the Board of Supervisors clerk's office, 70 W. Hedding St., 10th floor, San Jose. Call 299-4321 for more information. EMQ meets with neighbors Neighbors of Eastfield Ming Quong on Loma Alta Avenue are invited to a session to learn about EMQ's plan to increase the number of children who live at the center on the Los Gatos campus. The meeting will take place in Almaden Rooms 1-2 on the EMQ campus, 449 Loma Alta Ave., on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. RSVP by calling 364-4081. Light refreshments will be served and childcare provided if requested in advance. Coffee with the mayor in MS Mayor Jack Lucas holds his first Coffee With the Mayor meeting Friday, Jan. 8 at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Call 354-7635 for more information.
