    Candidate forums are planned

The Association of Republican Women will stage two candidate forums.

The first will be held at La Rinconada Country Club on Jan. 12 at 9:30 a.m. Candidates scheduled to attend include U.S. Congressional hopefuls Henry Manzler and Dale Mead, state Senate candidate Gloria Hom, and four candidates running for state Assembly--David Neighbors from the 23rd District, and Steve Blanton, Donna Courtright and Suzanne Jackson, who are running for the 24th District seat.

The second forum will be held on Feb. 16 and will feature different candidates. A $7.50 donation includes coffee, tea, juice and rolls. Call 408.379.0727 for reservations.

    Live Oak is robbed-again

The Live Oak Adult Day Services is hoping that whoever broke into its Los Gatos United Methodist Church site will return the VCR stolen during the Christmas holiday.

The Christmas robbery marked the fourth time the center has been vandalized or broken into. A television set, another VCR, and 35-mm camera have all been stolen in past incidents.

    Special session for neighborhoods

The Parking Commission is urging anyone in the Almond Grove, Edelen and Broadway neighborhoods to attend a special meeting at the Town Council chambers on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. to discuss interim solutions to parking problems.

The meeting is a prelude to the Town Council's Feb. 28 meeting on the same subject. The meetings come in response to the Almond Grove neighborhood's petition for 24-hour permit parking.
