Benefit to aid injured Los Gatan
Bocce ball players--and spectators, too--are invited to attend a tournament, auction and lunch on Jan. 23 as a fundraiser for Los Gatos resident Carleen Olmstead.
The daughter of Cherie Rose, owner of downtown The Rose Collection in Los Gatos, 22-year-old Olmstead is undergoing rehabilitation for severe injuries she suffered in an automobile accident in September while traveling in the San Luis Obispo area.
All proceeds from the event go to Wheels for Car (short for Carleen) Foundation, a newly created organization raising money to help pay for the wheelchair and other equipment she is using during her rehabilitation. Despite her injuries, Olmstead, a UC-Santa Barbara graduate, is still working at her mother's furniture store. Proceeds will also benefit the Valley Medical Center Spinal Chord Injury Rehabilitation Center.
The lunch takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Campo Di Bocce, 565 University Ave. A $100 donation is suggested for tournament players. Donations of $50 and $25 are suggested for non-playing adults and children, respectively. Donations in any amount are welcome from those unable to attend.
Checks may be mailed to the W.F.C. Foundation, P.O. Box 35611, Monte Sereno, 95030-0611. For more information or to sign up for the tournament, call Chuck at 831.475.5498.
