Clement Dougherty
Los Gatan Clement R. Dougherty died Jan 9 at the age of 86.
A native of Pennsylvania, Dougherty graduated from the University of Scranton and then moved to Syracuse, N.Y. He was the owner and president of Acme Fuel and Paving Co., a longtime member and officer at Bellevue Country Club, and an active volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital.
In 1985, Dougherty and his wife, Clair, moved to Los Gatos to be near one of their daughters and her family. Locally, he joined Sons in Retirement, served on the board of the Los Gatos Commons and was an active member of the Commons' Men's Club and St. Mary's Catholic Parish. He also enjoyed golfing and gardening.
Survivors include wife of 64 years, Clair Dougherty of Los Gatos; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Kevin Ryan of Saratoga and Karen and Ned Asam of Pittsford, N.Y.; grandchildren Erin Ryan Deehan, Shannon Ryan McIlvain, Laura Rideout, K.C., Chris and Sean Ryan, and Julie, Teresa, Jeannette and Gregory Asam; also 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
