Folksinger Carolyn Hester comes to Woodhaven West
The popular series opens 23rd season
Woodhaven West, the nonprofit community concert series sponsored by the First United Methodist Church of Los Gatos, opens its 23rd season with Carolyn Hester in concert at 7:30 p.m. on March 13.
Hester, a folksinger and guitarist, has been entertaining audiences since the early 1960s, through her many albums as well as her tours throughout the United States and Europe. For her 1962 debut album on Columbia records, she invited the young Bob Dylan to play harmonica--his first-ever appearance on a record. In 1992, Hester appeared at Dylan's 30th anniversary tribute concert at Madison Square Garden. Hester was also a regular for many years at the Kerrville, Texas, Folk Festival.
At Woodhaven, Hester will perform songs from her new album, From These Hills, as well as some old favorites. Her husband, David Blume, will accompany her on the keyboard. The church is at 19 High School Court. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and youth and $3 for children under 12. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 370-3037.
