News Briefs Chamber pushes below-gradeparking garage
A group of downtown business owners handed the town a nice little gift Feb. 24: a check for 10 grand.
The business owners, skeptical that building above-ground garages might encounter resistance that would cut down the total number of spaces the town builds, want to show they're serious about parking by funding subsurface soil studies that might give the town an idea if it's possible to build two levels of underground parking.
The Town Council will make a formal decision on accepting the money at its March 15 meeting.
On March 18, the Chamber of Commerce will hold a briefing for the business community and the public at 4:30 p.m. at Los Gatos Lodge, followed by a Chamber mixer at 5:30.
Town staff will make a presentation on the status of the selection process.
Campo di Bocce coming back to commission
After several months of delays, Campo di Bocce is set to bring its application for a new use permit and extra seating back to the Planning Commission March 10.
Campo di Bocce is asking to modify its existing conditional-use permit for the number of indoor and outdoor seats and its hours of operation. It also wants a variance for the amount of parking it needs for the increased seating.
Owner Tom Albanese is seeking to make legal about 50 seats he added after his original permit was approved.
The planning department has recommended denial of the project because the restaurant only has approval to operate a snack bar and doesn't satisfy parking requirements.
