LGUSD seeks assistant superintendent By Michelle Alaimo
The search is on for a new assistant superintendent in the Los Gatos Union School District. The position was vacated last October when then-assistant superintendent Mary Ann Park was promoted to superintendent.
The board approved posting the availability of the position of Assistant Superintendent of Education and Personnel Services as soon as possible at a board meeting on Feb. 9. Park has been pulling double duty by serving as superintendent while continuing her assistant superintendent duties.
The position will be posted on the Internet, in all school districts in the county, in universities and in other places where interested candidates might see it, Park said.
With the board's approval, Park began work on a brochure for potential applicants explaining what the LGUSD was looking for in an assistant superintendent and also listing some background on the district.
Park gives credit to administrators, teachers and parents in the district who have helped her function in both positions on an interim basis.
It is unclear when a new assistant superintendent would start and what the salary would be. Park said it all depends on when the person is available and what kind of experience the person has.
