The town began installing the new receptacles Feb. 27 and expects to be finished this week, according to Bud Lortz, assistant planning director and redevelopment manager. In addition to the 'courtesy cans,' recycling containers also are being installed. The trash cans are part of the downtown streetscape plan under the direction of the Redevelopment Agency. Benches have been put around the downtown area, thanks to the Adopt-a-Bench program, and several new planter boxes have been installed. Projects in the works include reconstructing the intersection of Bachman and N. Santa Cruz avenues and changing Grays Lane to a one-way street.
