Maier continues as salon stylist

Susan Maier, who recently sold the Off Main Street salon she established in 1981 to Todd Pugatch, hasn't retired her scissors as many people assumed after reading about the sale.

Maier remains at the salon as a stylist. The salon is located at 296 N. Santa Cruz Ave. and offers full hair and nail care.

Jack Lewis elected to Pinnacle board

Monte Sereno resident Jack Lewis, chairman of Amdahl Corporation's board of directors, has been elected to serve on the board of Pinnacle Systems Inc. as well.

The Sunnyvale-based Pinnacle Systems designs, manufactures, markets and supports post-production tools for real-time video processing and video manipulation, including special effects, graphics and text.

In addition to his work with Amdahl and Pinnacle, Lewis currently serves on the boards of Cypress Semiconductor, Infinity Financial Technology Inc. and Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation.

Mark Kita elected treasurer of board

Los Gatos physician Mark S. Kita was elected treasurer of the San Jose Medical Group board of directors during the group's annual shareholders' meeting in February.

Founded in 1955, the SJMG is a 173-physician, multi-specialty group with 15 medical offices throughout Santa Clara County. SJMG recently united with the Good Samaritan Medical Group.

Los Gatos resident becomes BFI marketing manager

Blair Johnson of Los Gatos is the new marketing manager for Browning-Ferris Industries. In his new position, Johnson is responsible for developing and implementing a marketing plan that includes new business development, market segmentation and advertising. In addition, he will continue to initiate improvements in BFI's existing operations.

Johnson joined BFI in 1991 as a market development representative. He previously was employed as an engineer by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Bruce Ryan heads Amdahl's new operating council

Amdahl Corp. has made several recent organizational changes, including the promotion of Bruce J. Ryan of Los Gatos.

Previously senior vice president and chief financial officer, Ryan will retain his finance responsibilities while heading the new Operating Council, which integrates day-to-day operational activities across Amdahl's various lines of business.

Sunnyvale-based Amdahl is a worldwide supplier of data processing systems, software and computer services.

Karen Trolan manages L.G. Cornish & Carey

Los Gatos High School alumna Karen Trolan was appointed manager and senior vice president of the Los Gatos Cornish & Carey office. She is transferring from the Los Altos Cornish & Carey residential real estate office, where she was vice president.

Trolan began her career with Cornish & Carey in Los Gatos where she was top agent producer in 1987. In 1988, she became manager of the Palo Alto, Middlefield office. In 1990, she opened the Mountain View office, which grew to 40 agents. In 1993, she opened the new and expanded downtown Los Altos office, which has led in local market share for the past three years.

Local CPA joins Cal-State Monterey

Jeffrey S. Froshman, managing partner of the Los Gatos and Soquel CPA firm of Froshman & Billings, was appointed to the faculty of the school of business at the new California State University at Monterey Bay.
