Budget hearings set for April, May
The Town Council is set to begin hearing public testimony on the 1996-97 operating budget and related issues next month:
* An April 1 public hearing has been set to consider proposals for Community Development Block Grant funds;
* An April 15 hearing will address the town's strategic plan for 1996-2001;
* On May 20, the council will consider adjusting fees and rates for various services; and
* The public hearing regarding the operating budget is set for May 29.
Phone company gets continuance
The Planning Commission has agreed to continue until April 10 a public hearing regarding installation of Personal Communications Services on the roof of the Courtside Tennis Club.
The matter was originally scheduled to be heard Feb. 28, but Suzanne Hook, a consultant for Pacific Bell, asked for a continuance so that the phone company could consider a redesign of the project.
In a letter to Associate Town Planner Erwin Ordonez, Hook stated that although she had notified 92 Courtside residents about a Feb. 6 meeting to discuss the project, only four showed up. Those who did attend, Hook added, expressed concern about the two antennae that would sit atop the tennis club's roof, prompting the project's engineer to research alternative designs.
Local youth do good turns
Local youth are helping Goodwill of Santa Clara County during Good Turn Days. From now through March 17, members of the Santa Clara County Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Campfire Girls and Boys are knocking on neighbors' doors to collect used clothing and household items.
Collected items will be distributed for sale at area Goodwill stores. Proceeds will benefit Goodwill Industries' job training and placement programs for disabled or
low income people.
