Villa Montalvo is hosting a new community outreach program called the 1996 Artshop Project, a series of hands-on weekly workshops from April through July held at Hope Rehabilitation Services in Santa Clara and Zonta Services in San Jose.
The project's purpose is to use the visual, performing and literary arts to give physically challenged seniors and emotionally challenged youth an opportunity to express themselves creatively.
Workshops will be supervised by trained staff from Hope and Zonta and will be led by local artists as well as Montalvo gallery exhibitors and representatives of the Artist in Residency program. Planned activities include painting, sculpting, ceramics, movement, music and poetry.
