Applications are being accepted for the 28th annual California State Talent Competition, in which young people between 4 and 26 years of age compete in a variety of divisions for trophies and more than $10,500 in scholarships.
The competition will be held May 24 through 27 at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. Participants who receive perfect scores from the judges will be named Double Grand Champions and will compete for additional awards during the Santa Clara County Fair, which runs July 24 through Aug. 4. The competition also serves as an audition for those interested in entertaining at the fair.
Competition categories include tap, jazz, ballet, folk, popular and country & western dancing; dance arts; musical theater; religious music and novelty and comedy acts.
Applications must be received by the offices of Youth Focus Inc. by March 29. Fees are $30 per person for a single entry, $20 per person for a double entry and $10 per person for a group entry. Call 298-2644 for more information.
