Fisher students go 'Peanuts'
St. Patrick's Day weekend was about more than just shamrocks at Fisher Middle School. It was also about Peanuts. Students portrayed members of the Peanuts gang as they performed You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown for the school's annual spring play.
Students acted out Charles M. Schulz's comic strip and cartoon characters March 14-17 in the school cafeteria. The performance featured R. B. Embleton as Charlie Brown, Brad Thornton as Linus, Katie Wilson as Lucy, Kyle Goodison as Schroeder, Rachael Holland as Sally, Jordan Corey as Snoopy, and Amelia Brain as Woodstock.
Ian Leonard and Heather Stokes, who have directed performances for the Children's Musical Theater, San Jose, oversaw the play.
Ricks family in 'Cricket'
February was a good month for the Ricks household in Los Gatos. Six-year-old Irene Ricks received first prize in the 10-and-under category, and 15-year-old Jessica Ricks won first prize in the 11-and-up category for their paintings in a Cricket magazine art contest.
Chantel Ricks, 9, finished third in the 10-and-under category, while 12-year-old Jasmine Ricks won an honorable mention spot in the 11-and-up group.
The magazine asked each entrant to depict autumn. Irene's, Jessica's and Chantel's paintings of autumn trees are featured in the February 2002 issue of the children's magazine.
